Development Details

Costa de la Luz

The Costa de la Luz, or “the Spanish Algarve” is positioned adjacent to Spain's border with Portugal.

Faro Airport is just 45 minutes away, with Seville & Jerez airports also within easy reach. Unlike many of the other Costa’s, the “Coast of Light” is still very typically Spanish, with its relaxing atmosphere combined with the Spanish passion for life.

The Area

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) in Huelva runs from the Guadiana river the separates Portugal and Spain to the Guadaquivir River in the East. Despite not being as scenically dramatic as its neighbours in Cadiz, this part of the Atlantic coastline boasts long unspoilt sandy beaches backed by pine woods and sand dunes and many protected coastal reserves.

Climate

The Costa de la Luz receives more than 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, resulting in a pleasant Mediterranean climate. Maximum temperatures rarely rise above 30°C in summer thanks to the Atlantic breeze. Winter temperatures seldom fall below 10° C and easily reaching 20°C at noon. The mild winter temperatures are ideal for golfers and makes this an all year round destination.

Golf

This area of coastline that runs across into Portugal is home to some of the world's most famous golf courses, where players of all ability are welcome. At Isla Canela you will find a magnificent course set amongst beautiful countryside. Navigable canals, olive, orange and pomegranate trees, palm trees and many others. Nearby is the Costa Esuri complex with two 18 hole golf courses with new clubhouses and the excellent facilities that they provide. If you travel a little further the well known courses of Quinta de Ria, Vale de Lobo and Vilamoura are within an hours drive.

Ayamonte

The town of Ayamonte preserves its old medieval quarter in the central district of the town, with many very narrow streets and historical buildings; this central area is a designated car-free zone. For centuries the ferry link between Ayamonte and Vila Real de St Antonio was the traditional crossing point between Spain and Portugal. A modern bridge has now been built to the north of the town, linking the motorway systems of the two countries, but the ferry still runs and provides an inexpensive mode of transport between the two countries.

Isla Canela Golf

The Golf development is situated in a quiet and peaceful area, right next to the golf course. Located on the northern edge of the island they are also very close to the lovely nearby town of Ayamonte just across the bridge from Isla Canela. They have a spectacular view over the golf course with very nice landscaped areas and beautiful water features. Every golf partment is fully furnished with luxury in mind. Marble floors and granite worktops are standard. The terraces are large and sunny. There are one, two and three bed room apartments and penthouses for sale.

The real estate market in Spain is undoubtedly its most dynamic economic sector. Investment by the million or so foreigners over the last decade, has lead to a very fruitful marketplace for both the second home seekers and the serious overseas investors.

With the 50 million visitors to Spain every year from all over the globe, Principal International, a leading overseas property investment company say that the attraction of sunny Spain still continues for investors, as there is never a short supply of customers for short or long term lets.

With the prices in Spain reaching a healthy 11% rise in 2006 compared to 10% in the UK, and the 3.5 billion Euro foreign investment in the property market in 2006, Sunset Overseas say that investing in Spain is almost a guaranteed winning situation.

Unsurprisingly, Spain was found to be the most popular overseas location for Britons to buy property as it was found to be the top choice for a potential holiday home for half of buyers.

The country is popular with Brits not only for its Mediterranean climate and lively culture but because of its historic high returns on property and massive popularity with British holidaymakers.

According to the Foreign Office, 17 million British nationals visited the country last year, a figure that represents huge demand for rental property meaning that buying a home in the country can represent both a change lifestyle and a shred investment for the future.

Improved airport access, promised by a new preliminary deal between Spain and the UK on the future of Gibraltar, will boost the property market in Costa de la Luz, experts announced this week.

The Costa de la Luz, or the Coast of Light, is the 300km coastline on the Atlantic side of southern Spain.

Running from Ayamonte to the Straits of Gibraltar, the coast is geographically divided into two sections: the Huelva Province, which takes in the western half including the Coto Doñana national park, and the Cadiz Province, which stretches from the River Guadalquivir to the mouth of the Mediterranean sea.

It may be neighbours with the Costa del Sol, but the Costa de la Luz couldn't be more different. Its golden beaches are long, wide, wild, often deserted - and more likely to be backed by sand dunes or pine trees than high-rise apartment blocks.

Because 30 per cent of the region is a protected area, it has remained quiet and undeveloped, with most visitors tending to spend short breaks in the beautiful cities of Seville or Jerez rather than explore lesser known towns of equal beauty such as Vejer de la Frontera or Medina Sidonia.
